A7S 1080P50 external recording

hi all, sorry if this was already asked, but I cannot find it in the archives.

Full frame, at 50p, 1080, the A7S is less sharp when recording internally, compared to 25P

now if I would record 50P 1080 externally, do I get better resolution? or does it not matter?

I haven't tested external yet, but if you change to S35 mode, the 50p is really nicely detailed.

​I understand, and if applicable, I use the APS-C mode, but is there a way to get the FF mode sharper in 1080p50?

I wouldn't imagine so.... The HDMI will have more or less the same detail, in FF

The A7s has to resort to line skipping when shooting over 30P in FF mode, no external device will be able to change that. The best 50p you can get is in crop mode since it no longer line skips and downscales a 2.7k image to HD.

Do we know the a7s can output a 1080p 60p signal through HDMI in the first place? Most of these cameras actually max out at 30p HDMI, except for the C100 mkII. Is it included in the a7s HDMI specs? I pre-ordered the BM recorder and would love to record 60p ProRes if the a7s outputs that
