The low light performance seems not as good as the action pro 8k somehow, may be a little bit better than go pro 12, not much. you are right, the lowest shutter setting of 24p with 1/24 sec shutter speed has one stop better light advantage over 60p 1/60 sec. The stabilization is pretty good, at least as good as go pro 12, may be a little better. The walking is almost steadicam or gimbal like. Yes, it's Yale. It's 1/48th or 1/120th shutter speed to match the 180º angle. Osmo Pocket 3 has a gimbal incorporated in its camera system. Here you have a fair comparison although I woudn't use their low light setting but just 8K mode for taking advantage of the resolution increase (seems a paradox but the balance ends differently...):

I guess that the lenses are different. ace pro uses wider lens, pocket 3 uses relative normal lens. in general, pocket 3 has at least comparable low light performance as ace pro. if look more carefully, the street lamps taken by pocket 3 have less blur or more defined than the ones taken by ace pro. i guess that pocket 3's lens may be higher quality than the ace pro. but it is hard to say, as wider lenses generally are more difficult to make and less perfect. or maybe the lens coating is different somehow. Beritar
3 hours ago, ac6000cw said: From the GH6 manual: I see what you mean about 5.7K versus 5.8K. I wonder if the extra image/video processing needed for 5.7K (about twice as many pixels per frame as C4K) is reducing the processing power available for IBIS control, so it can't react as quickly? As an illustration of what I said in words in an earlier post, below is an image circle with 4:3 (yellow), 16:9 (grey) and 17:9 (red) rectangles inside it. Note how the corners of the 16:9 and 17:9 rectangles are further inside the circle than the 4:3 rectangle (the full 5.8K 'open gate' aspect ratio). In reality, the usable image circle is larger than needed to contain a 4:3 rectangle - if it wasn't, sensor-shift stabilisation of 4:3 'open gate' video or stills would be impossible without vignetting. Yes, I think it's possible, 5,7K needs more processing power. I see the same thing with my S1 and S5II, 4K and C4K are more stable than 5,9K, the difference is pretty noticeable when I walk while recording, 5,9K has more "jumps". Maybe it is why 4K and C4K on the S5II have a so good IBIS compared to the S1 and S5, because the level of details is worse and need less processing power. kye
Another GH7 + LogC and ARRI discussion.. TLDR; Brady used the combo on two narrative projects, they matched up nicely in post (but not perfectly), and he sees it as a great option for a B-cam to an Alexa if you didn't have the budget for two Alexas. There's some side-by-sides in the video, including graded to match and also not. Davide DB, Emanuel and Juank 2

There's some side-by-sides in the video, including graded to match and also not. this is the most difficult scene, because dr is so drastic. yet gh7 is ok, not as good as Alexa but not bad neither. in real world project, it is easy to adjust the light intensity and direction and distance to reduce the dr. gh7 in real world shooting in one of the previous pool scenes is very close to Alexa. majoraxis

Davide DB
Joking aside, it will get really interesting if (and when) Pana introduces an ARRI-certified LUT in the next S1II or S2. IronFilm, PannySVHS, zlfan and 1 other

Yeah, now they've got the license, they might be able to release it for other cameras perhaps. One thing that comes to mind is that GH7 has IBIS, which isn't so good if you want a crash cam or something where there will be significant vibration (which was the purpose of the GH5S) but all Panny cameras now have it, don't they? Yes, all new cameras have IBIS. I think we should wait until they complete the renovation of their entire line to see a more specialised camera as the GH5S has been

I assume the crash-cam market is meant to be covered by the BGH1 (which has the 10Mp GH5s sensor) and full-frame BSH1 pro video 'box' cameras. More likely (if they think it's going to be profitable enough), they'll put the sensor and processing of the GH7 (minus IBIS and mechanical shutter) into the BxH1 box body to create a BGH2. Or not bother and just update the BSH1 into a BSH2 with the guts of the S5ii/S9 inside (minus IBIS and mechanical shutter). How about an S9 without IBIS but with some active cooling as a small/light FF crash-cam - replace the foldout LCD with a much thinner fixed screen, with the fan behind it (GH6/GH7 style)? A FF box-cam would make a lot of sense as a crash-cam, for drones, or for mounting in odd locations etc. It would have FF, good DR, good low-light, thermal management fans, and potentially the ARRI LogC curve / Prores RAW in it. L-mount primes can be quite compact, and the camera body itself would probably be smaller than the GH7 as well! eatstoomuchjam
Well, sort of. Now I watched the whole thing. I guess it's more "YouTuber shills for like 5 different companies and talks to other YouTubers while near an Arri and a GH7" - though it'll be interesting to watch their short film when it's done. As making a short film to a high level is expensive. But this way they spread out the costs via a bunch of supporting sponsoring companies, and got out a bunch more content pumped out vs normally just the one or two videos made.
