zlfan
I am trying to understand why motion jpeg codec is good on some old cameras. https://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/omd-em5/omd-em5VIDEO.HTM according to this article, em-5 720p 30p motion jpeg codec is 1/12 compression, 640x360 is 1/8 compression. for 720p 30p, uncompressed is 1280x720x30 about 30 MB/s, 1/12 compression is about 2.5 MB/s, about 2000 Mbps! for sd 30p, uncompressed is 640x360x30 about 10 MB/s, 1/8 compression is about 1.25 MB/s, about 1000 Mbps! zlfan
Olympus should market this as one of the biggest features of em5, aside of ibis, yet it was buried for so long time, I just found it out.
zlfan
by my eyes, em5 720p 30p m-jpeg footage is not outstanding in details. maybe it is pixel binning or line skipping instead of oversampling like gh2.
