Simon Shasha
Hey guys,Would love to have a lens on my BMPCC that will make it literally pocketable - the Panasonic 14mm F2.5 looks like a good candidate.Only thing I'm worried about is distortion. it seems to exhibit some heavy barrel distortion in stills shots I've seen (non-corrected RAWs).Given the BMPCC has a smaller sensor than MFT, I guess the barrel distortion will not be as bad/obvious.Does anyone have any experience with this lens on their BMPCC?Would love to know your thoughtsThanks! Julian
You can find plenty of footage on Youtube/Vimeo with this combination. I'd go for it!
MattH
The photozone review http://www.photozone.de/olympus--four-thirds-lens-tests/613-pana1425?start=1 shows that without automatic micro four thirds correction, the lens does have a quite high barrel distortion of 5%. But as you say, because the bmpcc uses the centre of the image, It wont be as bad as that. From the exmples above it looks ok to me.
Cinegain
It's the one lens that would make the Pocket Cinema Camera actually pocketsize. For this reason I believe the 14-mil is even being portrait on the retail packaging of the BMPCC.Does the 14mm pancake have the best characteristics in the world? Probably not, but it does make for a pretty nifty combo. Especially if you want to keep drawn attention to a minimum and can live with the rendering. And 14mm f/2.5 is pretty sensible on the BMPCC too. So sure, to borrow Julian's words: go for it.
