Where do you sell/buy gear (in Europe)?

What's the current state of online marketplaces for gear in Europe? I've been out of the loop for quite some time.

I think it is time my basically new Bolex D16 goes to someone that'll actually use it, but ebay doesn't seem like the right place for that.

In the UK, I've also found Wex to be quite good for buying and selling used gear - https://www.wexphotovideo.com

But for something quite niche like a Bolex D16, as others have said MPB might be more interested in it (but based on my experience, major used dealer buying prices are about half their typical selling price, depending on demand etc. for the item).

I know someone (a filmmaker) here in Vancouver looking for one. It all depends on the price though of course. What are you hoping to get for it?

I've yet to look up current pricing, but I'm not looking to make a profit, so around what these went for in 2017 would be alright. Mine was bought in the UK immediately after Bolex announced discontinuation.

Not sure about shipping to the other side of the world though. 🙂

Current pricing for the D16 is IMO a bit crazy - there are two which come up in a sold item search on ebay - $4600 in working condition and $1900 for parts/repair.  Original price was about $3,300.  Are you really sure you'd want to walk away from about $1,300?  FWIW, I'm guessing that anybody who spends $4,500 on a camera is going to use it.  At least, I hope so.  😃

This might have been the 256GB SSD version. Mine is the 1TB version which I recall was something like 4k euro with VAT this side of the pond, or whatever that was in GBP at the time.

Not sure that paying significantly more than this is wise, seeing as the batteries in most of these aren't particularly young. 🙂

I don't know what the current going price would be nowadays. It was higher than the original price for a few years but now recently I think things have changed. There has been one on eBay (with lenses and monitor) with a starting bid of 4300 Euro that has been relisted twice and has had no bidders.  Earlier this year I saw one on eBay for US$1000. 😳 !!!  There are many more camera options now and to get a film look, there are good emulation options too. Older used BMs, Reds and Alexas are pretty affordable too. It's a great camera and I love mine and all but if I didn't have it I would likely also be pretty happy with one of some other cameras that are out there.

As far as I could see by searching sold items on ebay, the current going price is about $4,600 for a 2TB model that works or $1,900 for a 2TB model that doesn't work.  There's also a more recent sale that was a $7,700 for one with 1TB, but it was apparently recently serviced by Rubenstein which included battery replacement - and that one also included a Zacuto EVF, PL mount adapter, gold mount adapter, and 3 Zeiss Tevidons.

So it seems like it's probably $4000ish for an unserviced camera - but it'll be on the market for a while before an enthusiast picks it up.  If I saw one in working condition for $2k, I'd probably jump on it, but I'd also be pretty sure it was a scam.

At $4k, the camera is competing with stuff like used Komodos and C70's which...  is a little crazy.  I'm also expecting Komodo prices to start dropping more soon as the ones with buy-it-now at $4k+ are not moving and those selling for auction are going for between $3-4k.  A lot of sellers still seem to be in denial about the recent price cuts.
