Eduardo Portas
An Italian magazine has postedsome material recorded with Canon's controversial new product. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M84vVDx4mUYouTube is probably not the best platform for a video quality assessment test, but this is still one of the first tests we see after the previous Planet5D material from about a month ago. Kristoferman
Talk about boring footage
Cinegain
And not very impressive... but then again, who knows how bad the YouTube degradation really is... but then again, maybe you need to release stuff on there, not so swell if it doesn't look that good then. Macroblocking, very bad highlight control, for being 4K not a whole lot detail. Not sure what to make of that.
mercer
Take a look at the older post about the XC10, Mattias Burling posted a link to some footage a few days and it looks amazing. If I had that kinda money to spend, it would be my next camera.

Shooting with the correct settings? Who knows.Still, it's an intriguing bet from Canon.+In my original post I'm referring to Cinema5D, not Planet 5D. Sorry for the mixup+
deezid
4k footage looking like beeing shot on a 1080p camera... Ouch.Absolutely no fine detail BUT lots of sharpening artifacts (not in C-LOG gamma)...Then: They have absolutely no skills grading the footage. (Not Canon's fault though)
Oliver Daniel
I'm seeing something different with XC10 footage (not this example). It has a superior mojo that other cameras don't have in this price range. Shame about the lens, but the camera is better than everyone thinks and is worth the money. mercer
Super Members Mattias Burling Posted July 2, 2015 Super Members Share Posted July 2, 2015 I also think it could be a killer camera. Have said it since day one. Cant say for sure until I've tested. It's in stock an hour away from me and it's very tempting
mercer
I don't even have a problem with the lens, the problem is the price. If this camera was $1500, it would be the camera of the year.
johnnymossville
looks to me like the wide DR setting actually looks good, their grade of the LOG footage was horrible.

I use it pretty much exclusively on the C100. From what I understand the XC10 is 10 bit? If so then LOG might be a good choice if graded properly. Super Members Mattias Burling Posted July 2, 2015 Super Members Share Posted July 2, 2015 Did you go buy the XC10 today? Ha ha, no. It's a bit much as it would be a b-cam. But if the right project surfaces it might change. mercer
gelaxstudio
Compare it with the RX10II,the XC10 is just a piece of garbageNO constant aperture,NO power-zoom,NO 0.09s focusing speed,NO PP files,NO Anti-distortion shutter!NO 960-frames FHD!And canon sell it double the price of a RX10IIIt's SO rediculous!! StenR
This one is the best I've seen, and that it includes quite a few low-light scenes: Mattias Burling
