Yup, NZ is a must : ) In my heart since 2015 at least...

Well to say it frankly, earlier than 2015... in the first years of last decade when this one (feature film) was shot (5D2, BTW), written and directed by Bernie Rao (Portuguese-born proudly NZ citizen today) and co-produced by this scribe:

I scored an awesome Black Friday deal on a music effects VST plugin.  It was 40% off, but allowed coupons to be applied after that, so some quick googling and I got it down from $199 to $86!

I've recently been getting the sound design and music side of things sorted out, so I'll be writing custom music and sound design for my videos as well.

Remember - sound is 50% of the movie...  at least!

Not a Black Friday deal but a deal none the less: i needed a wireless mic system but refuse to buy one of those ones with non-replaceable batteries, so decided to see how much the old Rodelink Filmmaker Kits were going for on ebay...

I bought one from a reputable seller that is listed as in "excellent" condition for $25 with free shipping. I bid, thinking it would probably get higher than that but nope, I won it for $25 and it'll arrive Friday. I'm quite happy!

That's shockingly cheap! Congrats.

I wouldn't advocate for the RodeLinks though, because: too big, & 2.4GHz

Saw yesterday Sony UWP-D11 for only US$50, only needs the TX antenna to be repaired/replaced (an easy fix there are lots of guides for). That would be a much better buy, although it was in the illegal (for USA) 600MHz band so not suitable for your purposes. Legal / working Sony UWP-D11 wireless seems to run more in the two hundred plus ish range, still an amazing bargain.

The Amaran portion of Aputure's BF deals dropped.  Some decent deals - now kicking myself for having paid normal prices for a couple of T4C's + extra battery + grid a couple of months ago.  Still picked up another.  Also finally grabbed an F22C.  If I didn't already have the B7C 8-light kit, I'd have jumped at the sale price for it too.

Now hoping that Sidus One is included in Aputure's BF sale once it hits.

Are you working in CRMX workflows on set? I'm curious about using Blackout+Ipad with my compatible lamps. What setup would you go with if you get the Sidus One?

Aputure BF deals live now.  This year's sale looks an awful lot like last year's sale.  Like I think the LS600X bundle is the same I got last year at about the same price.

Also worth noting that last year, on actual BF, they had some extra incentives like throwing in an MT Pro on orders above a certain amount.  If I decide to order anything, I'm just going to hold out to see if there are any extra things.

I'm not yet, but I don't want to have multiple apps for my lights on set so I mostly buy Aputure/Amaran.  I'm interested in being able to integrate some other vendors, though, without having to constantly reconnect all day.  Since I have some Aputure gear that only supports Sidus link, Sidus One seems like a good path forward to getting lights from other vendors (among other things, while I like my B7C's, there have been two occasions when they wouldn't fit in a light fixture - Astera makes some that would have fit).

I also bought a set of the Comica WM100 Plus dual transmitter and receiver kits for $55 that runs on UHF. They were in "like new" condition. They have decent reviews, so for that price I figured "why not?"

We'll see how they work, but we really don't need anything fancy. As long as the audio is ok we'll be set.

I looked at both the Sennheiser G3 and Sony UWP-D11 but I couldn't find any in what I thought was acceptable condition for under $300 and was trying to stay under the $150 price point if I could, since these are for a particular project (pro-wrestling) where they could get broken pretty easy. I'll probably end up buying the UWP-D11 for my own professional work, but these will do for now.

Okay. I heard some early reports of compatibility/profile issues for the Sidus One with non-aputure fixtures, and I have CRMX lights from Godox and Astera too. I've been eyeing Sidus one since Aputure support is strong. Most affordable option is Godox TRX Timolink but I dunno how it will play with non-Godox lights AND outside the Knowled app, let alone reliability/range as a transmitter. I may just play it safe with the Moonlite...if you have any more thoughts do let me know!!

Anyway my favorite aspect of these sales is how vendors push down the prices of used units accordingly. Happy shopping everyone!
