Amazon.fr is offering the S5D (new/old camera) + the new 18-40mm kit lens for 1129 euros. That's not that bed of a deal for new camera (not used) with a full 3 year warranty. Maybe even better is the same camera with the 28-200mm for 1699 euros here: https://www.digixo.com/appareil-photo-hybrides/panasonic/p398960-panasonic-lumix-s5d-28-200mm-dc-s5dhe-k.html

With the first kit mentioned and if you were to sell the 18-40 immediately to MPB, you'd be paying 844 euros for a brand new S5D. That seems very reasonable, but there might be even better deals. Who knows?

lensrentals.com has their BF sale going.  Use code LRBF2024 for 20% off any of their used gear.

It brought the Ronin 4D 6K down into the $3k price range where I always thought it made sense - so...  I guess that in a week or so, a Ronin will be at my door.  Now the hard part comes where I try to figure out which of my existing cameras I should sell...

I have taken advantage of some BF deals, A Crucial 2TB SSD with 23% off and a compact pair of cob lights with 20% off. Every year I need more hard drives and it was time to replace my lightweight leds with I've had for years but offer way less light for the size compared to the latest on offer. As my aim is to make everything smaller and lighter I'm happy to change now.

Not a Black Friday deal but a deal none the less: i needed a wireless mic system but refuse to buy one of those ones with non-replaceable batteries, so decided to see how much the old Rodelink Filmmaker Kits were going for on ebay...

I bought one from a reputable seller that is listed as in "excellent" condition for $25 with free shipping. I bid, thinking it would probably get higher than that but nope, I won it for $25 and it'll arrive Friday. I'm quite happy!

Good point that BF are not always the only deals. I just bought a second hand but brand new/never used Lowepro bag for 30€. They are over 80€ new. So there are great deals to be had in the second hand market too.

In France, Panasonic "deals" are way worse than last year. The "too good to pass up" offers aren't really there. Too bad. Maybe they made their quotas for the year and they're letting others take the hit in potential profits.

New offer just popped up in my socials. $300 off the S9 and a free lens on the Panasonic site. Combined with some other deals this could be a reasonable price to get in for under $1k USD

Which other deals?  Right now, the S9 is showing for $1,299 on their site - though with the free 26mm lens, as you mentioned.  Not quite in the sub-$1k range yet (at least that I can see)

I think they're changing things up in their marketing (and they should). They have decent products. They have a very high ceiling in terms of production tooling know-how now. The 2 lenses missing for the S9 are a 28mm f2 and 40mm f2 pancakes. Let's hope they get on it.

People don't realise that when you go for small, it's basically going for a new system and you need to have lenses that go with it or the traction won't be there. I think this is the case with the S9. Also, it's lacking so many photography features for the price and weight. Still, it's a great-looking camera IMO.
