Axel
Watch this: It convinces me. But it's $3000 and €4000 (for what reason ever). Hopefully somebody in China is already busy copying the thing. What think?
Cinegain
2:26-.. . Haha. Meh. Not quite. One hand operation with this looks like it's going to suck. Atleast something like the Ronin has a top handle to switch to.Would be interesting to see what China could come up with. There's tons of stuff on Tmall/Taobao. I just found this electronicless one: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=45398968093 . Or with: http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=23669520582 . This pistol grip one has room on the left to flip out your vari-angle display: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=520450185983 .
Axel
Yeah, of course you can't focus during the shot. But I think he's right in one respect: if the external monitor is not stabilized (Ronin), it will distract you or cause nausea at some point. Can't use a Nebula type (too heavy setup), and the other gimbal you linked to didn't look good, imo.
DBounce
Personally I like the Letus Helix/jr. This is largely because of all the crotch shooters using the more widespread design of the Ronin. Just seems to me that most of the shots I see with the handle on top gimbals are almost always looking up from chest or crotch height. Whereas the Letus lends better to eye level shooting. It can also do briefcase mode, as well as do 360° barrel rolls. Plus the small one can hold 12-16 lbs.
