Yes indeed, I did actually mention them above briefly along with LUMIX for pushing the innovation at budget prices. I’m going to order the black X-m5 as soon as I sell a couple more lenses. At $800 it’s a crazy good deal and the Ninja V+ I just bought used from Tokyo should be able to handle the 12bit 6.2k raw out of that little guy just fine. 
 

Found a used Blazar Nero 1.5x adapter on sale last month and I found it does much better on APS-C compared to full frame. Looking forward to some super small anamorphic fun using the open gate 6.2k with both the Yashica scope and the Blazar on the pint sized X-M5. 
 

Just imagine back a few years ago if someone told you that you could shoot open gate 12 bit prores raw at 6.2k paired with a Ninja and a new, small budget 1.5x anamorphic adapter for a total cost of $2k.

Thats a 9360 x 4160 image  after 1.5x desqueeze in post. Insane.

With all the extra processing and heat generation, the body should have been enlarged to match those of other flagships (e.g., Canon R1, Nikon Z9). In room temp, the A1 could record 8K up to 90 minutes without any problems, but the best I've seen for the A1 II in similar conditions is 60 minutes.

I saw that. I thought you were referring to the extra processing chip that allows for the new AI and AF in the A1mk2. That damn AI stock footage will finish us all!

Sony does ‘seem’ to have gone off the boil a little in recent times…

Low res LCD’s, a variety of video features ‘missing’ and pretty piss-poor firmware updates are the main gripes.

But then all brands have pros and cons…

Personally, I think it’s Nikon who have the most traction right now, at least when it comes to hybrids.

Canon fairly similar in some ways but far less lens options and higher prices.

Lumix on hold.

Fuji need to get their AF up to snuff.

Leica and Hasselblad inhabit their own universes so I don’t count and nor do I M4/3.

I certainly would not pay what Sony are asking for their mildly updated camera when the other options that exist are available.

The lens though… Still pondering that one but still think the Sigma pairing of the 28-45 f1.8 and 28-105 f2.8 are a more compelling option for essentially the same outlay.

Maybe they did?  Feedback on the new firmware seems positive so far.  Now waiting to hear some actual use reviews beyond what some YouTubers do in their house or yard.

Well yes, possibly as I have also read the new XM5 is supposed to be a lot better.

To be fair, when I did use the system, I thought it was OK.

A bit shit in the early X years, but I had no gripes from the X Pro2 / XT3 onwards for my needs.

It doesn't seem to have developed much since then? Until maybe now.

Otherwise, I think both the APSC and the medium format system are great and I wouldn't hesitate to use any as they exist today.
