i just checked my om-1 in video mode, it can do c4k 60p, h265, long gop, 10 bit. i will use 60p to compensate for the low bit rate 152 mbits/s long gop codec.

om-1 has two level zebras, real time histogram, horizontal and vertical levels. actually good enough for typical video shooting.

the reason why i am interested in c4k is because i read from several sources that c4k 24p is more detailed than uhd 4k on em1 mk iii em1x etc.

if om-1 c4k 60p is as detailed as c4k 24p, it is probably oversampled 4k from the 6k sensor. plus, using 60p to negate the low bit rate codec, finally, this mode can stand up against other big name cameras.

if this works in real world shooting, om-1 is a sleeper, actually. certainly it is not good for low light, the sensor size is m43/43.

I tried it in a direct head to head with Lumix and personally found it trash.

Perhaps trash is too harsh, but I just did not like it.

I would probably have 'liked it' more if I did not have anything to compare it to, but I threw it in at the deep end on a job as a B cam to an S1H.

Loved the camera otherwise!

for new cameras, i care very much about the ibis. i have a gopro12, good is, now om-1, good ibis. in the future, maybe s5 3 x, something like that, good ibis on ff so good low light.

The 4k60p is not as detailed as 4k24/25/30p - see https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr29_0=omsystem_om1&attr29_1=omsystem_om1&attr72_0=4k_60&attr72_1=4k&attr421_0=10&attr421_1=10&normalization=full&widget=850&x=-0.3659681831889651&y=-0.46405799840375833

10-bit UHD or C4K at 24/25/30p are the most detailed modes. 50/60p is noticeably softer/less detailed. 10-bit also uses the (better) HEVC/H265 codec.

sandisk uhs i 200 MB/s extreme pro sd card seems fine. i recorded in the above mode for 1 minute. no issue. v90 cards are 10x more expensive. seems no significant advantage.

The Sandisk Extreme (non-Pro version) is also fine for 4k60p in my experience.

then i probably will use c4k 24/30p for long shots.

i found out that c4k 10 bit h265 has only two picture styles, om400 log, hlg. kind of limiting.

in photo m mode, sh1 silent fast electronic 120p, or sh2 50p or sh 20p, all of the art filters can be used, buffer is 75 if recording raw plus superfine jpeg. the refresh time is about half a minute. i like this mode very much.

just did some shots on a local busy street. the 120p photo mode is nice, people mostly ignored me. some although noticed me, but 75 frames were blasted in less than 1 second, just like taking one picture, very quick. the buffer clearance time was not bothering most of the time, because i spent time looking for the next good frame. v90 cards may cut the time in half. but i am really ok with it, at least for now. it reminds me of the nikon 1 v1, v1 can only do 60p 30 frames.

in conclusion, it is a turbo gopro.
