You got a great deal, for sure. I'm sure you'll enjoy the content made with it. It has so many features and such a nice image. I've been using one for live streaming with a Chinon 50mm f/1.9- works great! IronFilm and Ninpo33

That is what I would also rather see; a 60mp and a 24mp model Have you played with any of the video on the A7R5? I would love to know how the 6.2k subsampled footage looks compared to the regular FF 4k. I’m torn between a couple options right now for my high res photo hybrid camera. I need good video but would love to jump up to the 61mp sensor. Might have to stick with the SL2 or S1R for now if I don’t end up going GFX 100s. A7CR is probably also an option staying around $2k

A7CR is probably also an option staying around $2k Oversampled 7K or 6.2K footage at 3840x2160 has better fine detail only at the extreme end of a test chart, not so much in real-world. Pixel binned full frame 4K looks perfectly fine these days on most high-end cameras like the a7r V in full frame and GFX 100 even given the 9K to 12K resolution of their native chips. It is highly detailed in 99% of real-world subjects with the occasional bit of moire on things like shirts and fabric. They don't line-skip, instead on-sensor these cameras intelligently merge groups of pixels. It's not as good as a quad bayer sensor as data does get binned, but it's still a lot better than the 5D Mark II 1080p days. At pixel peeping levels of magnification, of course it's more noticeable than at normal viewing. So, even less of a problem in the end result on a big screen. Of course if the subject is extra tricky you can switch to APS-C on the high-resolution cameras and they will oversample or do 1:1 https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sony-a7rv-review#VH Ninpo33

John Matthews
After watching the live stream, Sean (of Lumix) said the two new cameras released this week were good sellers in the past and they expect this minor update will keep them as decent sellers into the future. Basically, they're still marked as "available". I'm going to speculate they wanted to change one or two things on them (to make them more competitive of sorts) and they simply had to give them a new product name. Legal made them put the USB-C (with USB 2 speeds). No, they aren't for us- they're for basic consumers. sanveer, Davide DB and ac6000cw

When I overhear people trying out/discussing/buying cameras in stores and at local camera shows, my impression is that taking still photos is the most important reason for buying a camera. Video hardly gets mentioned - it's a secondary 'nice to have, just in case' feature, not the main reason for buying what is perceived as a 'stills' camera (mostly because MILCs still look like traditional 35mm film cameras, I guess). What sells reasonably well for camera manufacturers is probably quite different to what interests people on this video-orientated forum (I know that's the case for me). They've kept the whole industry afloat helping them afford the high-end stuff. Honestly when you see the crap Chinese cameras on Amazon, all the Japanese cameras are better, regardless make or year- all of them. I actually feel really bad for the people that get those "48MP" cameras with only a cellphone sensor and no optical zoom. My Dad got one before he died and when he purchased it, he seemed quite happy. He probably felt different or didn't know better soon after. I don't know why Amazon allows that stuff that is clearly filled with false advertising. IronFilm

I’m always curious about the APS-C modes on all these cameras and wondering if anyone even uses them much. Some of them look quite nice. I'm all for going after casual users, but these cameras ain't it. No one getting into mirrorless cameras (or starting a YouTube channel) is going to pick up a G97 over the Sony ZV-E10 or Canon R50, as both are significantly more affordable, are more popular brands, and have features people want like PDAF. I am fully invested in Lumix cameras and lenses, but even I wouldn't recommend the G97 to a casual user. Ninpo33

Not even one photo in the marketing of these cameras was actually taken with the one they're trying to sell. I especially love the way they get away with not mentioning autofocus; meaning, there isn't any. 48MP? So, I guess it's now a feature to fill landfills and hard drives without any regard for the actual resolution, never mind the slave labor used to produce them. It's all good, right? Am I wrong in saying that this stuff seemed illegal before? Maybe they just push it to the limit. Does it matter though?
