Super Members BTM_Pix Posted February 6 Super Members Share Posted February 6 Leica deservedly get a lot of stick for putting Panasonic cameras in posh overcoats but I think this is pretty nice. They've more or less sawn the grip off an SL, put a MagSafe on it and brought a very ergonomic integration with their LUX camera app. Yes, of course its £260 and only works with their subscription only LUX app but it is a package of transformational beauty when it comes to iPhone photography. MrSMW
I think I'd go for that over any compact today. It's a 'one and done' solution isn't it. I might pick one up as the main thing that stops me having an 'edc' compact is I can't be bothered plus when it comes to actually using my phone, the ergos are shite. I would actually use this. The only down side is, I'd then convince myself I needed something more up to date than my iPhone 13...

Administrators Andrew Reid Posted February 6 Administrators Share Posted February 6 Nice idea, unpleasant pricing strategy. Did you see the Leica jacket they released? I think it's around £1000 for an anorak. Emanuel

Still, at 260 plus a years sub plus several more years of subs, still cheaper than a new compact. And the main point being, I would actually use it. Administrators Andrew Reid Posted February 6 Administrators Share Posted February 6 Finally managed to get the GIF button working on the forums... There will be a £70 per month fee but only for Leica M11 owners.
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted February 6 Administrators Share Posted February 6 https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Magnetic-Smartphone-Bluetooth-Compatible-Shooting/dp/B0CFPJXXM6/ The same thing is 30 quid on Amazon. Which leads me to a crafty sneaky idea... What if we were to put a red dot on that? And buy 90 or so? Juank and BTM_Pix
MrSMW
MUCH better value if you don't want or need the software which 100% turns every shot into a 50mm f1.0 Noct.
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted February 6 Administrators Share Posted February 6 Hmm. Have you used the Xiaomi 14 Ultra? Now that is a proper Leica camera phone.

I think Leica already beat you to that idea. Except they reduced the usefulness of it by making it only work with their app, for some reason. Administrators Andrew Reid Posted February 7 Administrators Share Posted February 7 So iPhone prices then 🙂 You can get the 12S Ultra instead for under 600 euros used, and the 11 Ultra still holds up very well with the not quite as big as 1" sensor. I don't use it as a daily driver phone due to being locked into Apple. But the camera really is very special. The Leica computational modes are lovely. Administrators Andrew Reid Posted February 7 Administrators Share Posted February 7 Unlike the metal jackets, I bet the Shackelton still gets made in Bangladesh by people on $1 per day. At least with the cameras the person who chisels the block of aluminium is probably on a bit more than that. I hate the fashion industry with a passion, they are truly dismal hypocrites. You mean the person who looks after a collection of computer-controlled milling machines that actually do the chiseling 🙂.
