That’s too bad.

What an ergonomics nightmare. Unless you want it on tripod all the time, then its a fixed display and not high res enough for landscape. Quoting Kasey: "what are you doing?".

"it cuts out everything that distracts, limits, or stifle creativity".

Never mind no; grip, IBIS, second card slots, 4k 60p and all that, this one doesn't even allow for any kind of video or photo capture but simply has a voice recording device so you can describe the scene or quote poetry.

I have to hand it to Sigma for trying new and different designs. This is probably a niche product, but the design seems like the antithesis of Panasonic design. The Sigma BF seems "industrial," more like a solid chunk of metal straight from the machine shop and forgetting that a human is going to touch it. The Panasonic is about the human hand and practical at all cost.

It's great to have L-mount as no other mount has this type of variety of design. We now have classic design (Panasonic), minimalist design (Leica), and ultra-minimalist, "industrial" design (Sigma).

Also, this should bode well for more pancakes which makes me happy.

I’m sorry, but I really really like this. It’s gorgeous. Definitely a “lifestyle” product but if it’s well made and does what it is designed to then perfect. I can see myself getting one - and I’ve just looked at some lovely looking lenses on wex…

OK, for my stills work, I’d be very tempted for a pair of them, provided some kind of grip appears which I assume it will, paired with their; 20mm, 35mm, 65mm f2’s and the 90mm f2.8.

But that is where I hit a snag; 90mm being my longest option as 24mp does not allow for the kind of cropping I’d need to achieve consistent quality 150-200mm shots.

And no, having a prime of that length would not work for me as it’s too rigid a focal length and nor would any zoom work because it would be too big, too heavy, too awkward or too slow.

Umm. Like it, but I was hoping for at least a 40mp sensor and a bit more real world, my use case, use ability.

I otherwise like it as I do all Sigma cameras. But not to actually use.

Ah well, it makes my decision making progress more simple being able to remove this new body from any equation.

Being different for the sake of being different is not a good business plan. $2000 for a S9 clone while being more limited than S9 is crazy.

That's what I thought as well, $2K is crazy with the FF competition these days!

When I merely just saw the name and a picture of it I was guessing it was perhaps a sub $1K bargain? (which is the current price of the Panasonic S5 mk1 btw!)

But nah... it's double that??

This though is a cool promo video Sigma put out today:

Worth a new topic! I'll split this one and can continue there with the BF.

This is the perfect niche camera

It's exactly what you do when you are not trying to do a Sony Clone like Panasonic are.

There's no point Sigma trying to do a mass appeal Sony a7 clone and they know it - they know they can't compete in the worktool business with Canon, Nikon, Sony.

So why not do something fun instead. Perfect.

I do wish they would put IBIS and EVF in there, or at least in a higher-end version.

But it has far more sex appeal than the Panasonic S9 doesn't it?

Fashioned from a single piece of aluminium, internal storage, minimalist controls…

It’s basically a full frame rebirth of the original Leica T isn’t it ?

Well, minus an SD card slot or optional EVF.

They are mad bastards and I salute them for it.

At first I thought they'd gone and done an APS-C camera.

Nice that it has an updated sensor and the full pixel readout 6K. Sigma Fp 4K output was a bit scratchy looking.

No word on Cinema DNG?
