OK the build and finish of something like Sigma’s 70-200 is better, but it costs a lot more and is waaaaay bigger and heftier. 10 hours ago, Andrew Reid said: Does it not transfer the E-mount geometry metadata via the adapter? I thought it did. Will have to try that. It’s really only an issue if you are like me and hate curvature in what should be straight lines. As mentioned before, really only noticeable with interiors and possibly more a photo than video thing? 10 hours ago, Andrew Reid said: It's more of a stills camera in my view. Whereas Z8 is a hybrid Yes, I think if video had been my priority for this unit, I would have gone Z8 at the time and especially more recently since the Red luts became available as there is one that really tickles my fancy. Cool, now what they really need to add is LUT support. Especially considering the current log assist mode isn’t really that reliable for exposure. Another major one would be open gate. If they add both LUT support and OG, I’d switch to Nikon in a heartbeat. Andrew Reid, Ninpo33 and Walter H

Super Members BTM_Pix Posted Thursday at 10:19 AM Super Members Share Posted Thursday at 10:19 AM Monster Adapter are about to release an F to Z mount adapter that incorporates a motor to drive old AF-D lenses. So thats another boatload of high quality very affordable lenses that can now be used with Z mount cameras. It really is the USB of lens mounts. Administrators Andrew Reid Posted Thursday at 10:20 AM Author Administrators Share Posted Thursday at 10:20 AM Beyond the CPU capability for 10bit. Sensor can do 8K/60p so open gate 8K 30p would be no issue for it. CPU encoder that's on the limit, i.e. HEIF and HVEC. Ninpo33

AFD still very popular in Germany. BTM_Pix and Emanuel

There are cameras from Panny and BMD that offer it with much older tech. Personally I wouldn’t mind if it were offered with certain codec/fps restrictions just as long as it’s an option. Fingers crossed. Ninpo33

With so many people shooting stuff for social media and the rise in cheap anamorphic lenses it feels like a no brainer. LUMIX was always so ahead of things in this regard, so crazy to think that the FX3 still doesn’t have it. Would be a perfect addition to the Z8

Would be a perfect addition to the Z8 Yeah pretty wild that in 2025 Sony only offers it on their $60K Venice 2. I’d hope that would change in the FX replacements or even some kind of update although Sony are terrible in that department. There is a rumour Canon will introduce open gate in an upcoming R5 mk2 update. It would be a smart move because that camera isn’t getting much love and no one aside from Panasonic is doing it on a hybrid (would be a direct S1Rii counter strike). Plus if Canon add it, it might push Nikon to do so as well. Ninpo33

And then the GFX 100ii and upcoming Eterna for medium format.
