ND64
There is also this short film festival: https://www.festivalnikon.fr/en Many of submitted works are very creative. Edit is professional, color grading as cinematic as it gets: https://youtube.com/@nikonfilmfest So many talented people are out there, and I wonder why we don't see them in this forum? I want to hear their BTS stories. Ninpo33
newfoundmass
I wish more companies would do stuff like this. I'm looking at you, Panasonic.
sanveer
The Greatest of them All, the My Rode Reel, was killed mysteriously, without any former warning. Those guys had made the festival superb. Wish they had a longer duration for the short films though (under 10 mins would be perfect). P.S.: I noticed they've diversified from filmmaking to creator of the year awards. They've made a huge category for the prizes ( The awards span across 22 content categories: Adventure and Outdoors, ASMR, Beauty, Comedy, DIY and Hobbies, Entertainment Review, Fashion, Food and Cooking, Gaming, Gear and Tech Reviews, Gym and Fitness, Health and Wellness, Home and Studio Tours, How-to and Tutorial, Interview, Journalism, Music Production and Performance, Science, Short Film and Documentary, Sports,bTravel and Lifestyle, Video Podcasts). https://rode.com/en/about/news-info/introducing-the-rode-creator-of-the-year-awards-2024

Instead of spending $7-10K per talking head to get twenty or thirty of the bros to Osaka to film each other eating ramen and doing running to camera AF tests, it would be much better to use that money to fund ten people to make actual small films with their new camera. They’d end up with a far more inspiring showcase of the camera and I don’t doubt the ethical aspect would make them feel better about themselves as well. mercer, newfoundmass, MrSMW and 1 other
eatstoomuchjam
Fuji do a pretty good job of this - I'm not sure how people are chosen, but they seed their cameras out to filmmakers to make films with them. Then Fuji releases the film on their channel and they also release a making-of video with the filmmaker talking about how the camera helped them in making the film. I'm not sure about their other cameras, but the films that have been made for the GFX 100 and GFX 100 II were really nicely done.
Super Members BTM_Pix Posted March 13 Super Members Share Posted March 13 The problem is that they still send the bros and those are the videos that a lot of people base their judgements and decisions on. Part of this is the cult of personality and also I think that the manufacturer films are somehow disregarded as almost being fabricated con jobs. Ironic really as it’s the shill ones that are more likely to fall into that category. Maybe the compromise is to get the bros to do the BTS of the real films. I think so. You put Joe Bloggs arty film next to YouTube Shillbro’s gear orientated piece of the same length and we know which will get all the attention and which will be largely ignored. UNLESS you bluff the audience and put a stoopid thumbnail on the arty film, and then you have a chance… Sadly, it is the world we now live in. MrSMW
^ The TikTok generation would now watch the Godfather. Well they would if they did not know it was 3 full films and they were allowed to listen rather than watch whilst they scroll scroll scroll…
