Turboguard
i just finished coloring a short that was shot on the Canon C300. They asked me to deliver in ProRes and was wondering which ProRes is enough for this. I feel like 4444XQ might be a little too much.
Nick Hughes
For final delivery, HQ should be fine. Even LT is probably good enough if you reaaally need to save a couple GB.
Guest Ebrahim Saadawi
Of course XQ is 100% overkill, it's for full 444 RGB 12bit sources, alexa/red/c500 etc.The C300 outputs a 4:2:2 8bit signal, -ProRes HQ is 10bit 4:2:2 220mbps-ProRes 422 is 8bit 4:2:2 145mbpsSo 422 is the most suitable and efficient codec for the C300, while HQ will provide a slightly higher bit-rate but false 10bit so un-necessarily bigger files. Anyway I'd choose 422, and HQ if I am a bit OCD wanting the highest bitrate to be sure and don't mind size. They look identical from the C100.*by the way a file is1Gb in XQ,500mbs is HQ,350mbs in 422.
