VARIABLE ND Filter for Tamron 17-50?

A bit torn between which ND Filter to get for my Tamron 17-50 so I can get that shallow DOF outside shooting. I am looking at the Ritz Gear Fader as well as the Genus Eclipse. Any thoughts? Both seem to be well reviewed on this forum. My fader size is apparently 72mm.

I haven't heard of those brands. For variable nd I've heard heliopan being the best with hard stops, tiffen and slr magic after that, and then hoya pro (not just hoya). I went with tiffen for my Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 but that's mainly cause I'm unsure if I'm going to return the lens or not for a sigma f1.8 zoom.

Bunch of topics on the forum handling the subject already that have some interesting information, thoughts and opinions. Delve into some history (like this very recent topic: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/8981-nd-filter-buying-advice/ , a bit of an older one: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/7522-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-heliopan/ , or:)

Maybe you'll find this useful:

Heard good things about the Genus though. I started out with a Fotga Variable ND (as seen on http://cheesycam.com/fotga-slim-variable-nd-fader-filter/ & http://cheesycam.com/fotga-variable-nd-fader-filter-sample/ ). Then I bought some quality fixed NDs (as seen on https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/breakthrough/x-series-traction-filters/description X3 uses Schott glass).

Ive used Genus for a few years now, on that very lens as well. Im all happy and have no bad things...

Off topic but I think I just voted for your dog to get some free dog food. All I have to do is click "rosta", no registering or nothing? Here's the link if anyone else wants to help Mattias and his adorable dog out.

You guys seen this?

I've been thinking about an electrochromic ND solution like this for a while now... glad to see it's actually taking shapes already!

I know this is kind of an old topic, but this one seems to have taken some actual form and looks like it could be yours in just a few months!

Would you get something like this? If so, what would it need to be priced at to make it attractive enough? Does seem to allow for Aputure DEC-like focus pulls as well. Dunno. Interesting thingie this. Would be great if they could get it to work like the FS5's integrated electronic variable ND.
