-Virtually no noise at 102.500 ISO, as if it's 850 on a C300. ISO performance is just mind boggling.

-Resolution (if the uploaded file is indicative) is quite low compared to 4K cameras but still good HD.

-4 Million is bad and clearly just for scientific/surveillance in no light, noise is hideous as 400.000 ISO on A7s.

-The camera is a small cube with an atomos shogun and a battery. Cool and usable.

These companies are incredible in how they produce and upload launch videos, it sometimes looks as if they want it to be a low quality upload.

My eyes see different. It's not the best file but I believe we -video people- are experienced enough to differentiate between gain noise and web compression (low bit rate macro blocking). It looks 1080p uploaded at around 5 to10 mbps blocks.

To my eye, The 102.000 ISO footage look at least 3-4 stops better than the a7s, not just in noise but NR smudging of the a7s and complete destruction of any detail and colour. And the 4million is pretty similar to 400.000 on the A7s.

Observe the child shots lit by candle at 102.000 ISO with no noise, and airport shots at 102.000, I never could get a usable image above 40.000 on the a7s (even at that it's not nearly as clean as the child/airport shots at 102.000). The highway shot is also a great example of noise up to 1 million usable, as long as there's is light not a black scene (filming vs surveillance application) it's going to look good. The a7s in pitch black underexposed is terribly noisy at 800 ISO, so is any other camera and I predict even this one.

The A7s is not bad, it's honored to be in the conversation of a 30.000$ camera at all. A lowlight monster that opened our eyes to the staggering good 20.000 and usable 40.000 ISO.

I'd love to see higher bit-rate files from this nonetheless without the macro-blocking. Shots in real world film applications from 10.000 to 1000.000.

Not sure if we're looking at the same video / stream quality. Watching on a 1080p screen, the text is not sharp at all, indicating it's a lower resolution upsized.

Here's a screengrab, this is as good as it gets. No detail at all (because of crappy uploaded file, I'm sure). 1080p at 5 tot 10 mbps can you perfecly sharp.

very strange that that is what they choose to upload though, considering they could EASILY make it look nicer online...

It does seem that the actual gap between this ($30,000) and the A7Smk1 (currently $1500 to buy new) is small.  Their footage doesnt look very good.  Their lens mount is a hindrance since it limits the use of specialist lenses with short back focus distances.

The actual industrial design is rather nice though, and I imagine this will do very well with underwater shooters who can't live with the pitfalls of the a7s.  This could infact be the perfect match for FORBES70 as it happens.  Body will sit quite nicely into a slightly reworked FORBES body, and the clean look from 100,000iso will be good to combat the inherent slower lens speeds of medium format lenses.

And unlike the A7S, this camera will shoot 10-bit in nicer codec, and has all the pro-friendly features to work in the industry.

Low-light performance is in right now, and Canon seems to have filled a niche with this camera. As more and more cameras reach the point of "good enough for basically anything," I think we'll see more specialized tools like this. You'll have your canon me20f-sh for extreme low-light, your Phantom Flex for extreme high frame rates, etc.
