Yeah, it may be for photo purposes only.  I wouldn't hold my breath.

That's only for 1 second though, i think? Still a nice feature.

It says 6K 30p and then in a different square 8mp 60p Photo Burst.
A little click baity imo if both are for photo only.

I hope we are wrong but not holding my breath either.

It is quite deceptive marketing if it's not for video, since they presented it as a step on the road to 8K video in 2020.

This is from 43rumors

"“6K PHOTO” is a high speed burst shooting function that cuts a still image out of a 4:3 or 3:2 video footage with approx.18-megapixel (Approx.6000 x 3000 effective pixel count) that 6K image manages. The name ‘6K PHOTO’ is tentative."

Right. It does make sense. I don't think anyone in the GH5 demographic has any use for 6K video. It would be a nice absurd feature to have though.

If it is a 4:3 6000 pixel wide sensor then it would have to be bumped to 28MP.

Then question is how are they doing 4K from 28MP? Pixel binning? Oversampling?

So many unanswered questions, I'm surprised how little info they released.

Maybe really it is multiaspect sensor as you said before, so 6K Photo in 16:9 ratio 5760x3240=18,6MP

I could be wrong but it would such a strong feature not to talk about... but they didn't talk about IBIS which generates much expectations... so I guess all is possible !

As Andrew said before, if it was a classic 4:3 sensor it would need to have around 25-28 MP to be able to record 6K Photo bursts, so multiaspect seems more logical to me.
