sanveer
I am curious to know whether anyone has tried shooting a film, or something substantial, on the Nokia PureView 808. It has a far superior camera (and onboard sound), to the iPhone. Also, it costs noticeably lesser.
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted July 25, 2012 Administrators Share Posted July 25, 2012 I'll be reviewing it next week, one is on it's way to me now. The video is very capable on it and the sensor is actually quite large.

sanveer
Andrew, may I request you, to shoot the video, together with an iPhone, if you could, so that a face-off/ shoot-out, maybe the purpose of testing the video (and sound) quality. That way, we could judge it, in comparison with an iPhone, instead of attempting to use a DSLR as a yardstick Thanks
sanveer
Thanks Andrew, for conducing and posting that review.
Emanuel
A decade later on its 10th anniversary, still kicking as much as this web corner BTW* ; ) https://nokiapoweruser.com/retro-review-nokia-808-pureview-10th-anniversary/ * Here... a second thread on topic. Emanuel
PPS -- Just as particular note, I had once to check on EXIF data only to satisfy my curiosity over an old stock photograph taken from my personal archive when I realized that had been shot with the CAMERA of this smartphone for my surprise because of the quality achieved. (EAG :- ) (Years later, much modern stuff, but my crews still in the same Ukrainian fields) Just sayin'...

Administrators Andrew Reid Posted June 13, 2022 Administrators Share Posted June 13, 2022 It was an absolute beast of a sensor. Was almost as big as your motorhome 🙂 I still have my 808 somewhere. Might get it out and see if it will do 8K 24fps 😆 webrunner5
webrunner5
I sold my 808 a few years ago, along with my Sigma DP1. In their day they were pretty great, but now well not so hot. But each had a unique look to them, so yeah, they would be worth brining out and using them for some funky looking stuff. PannySVHS
I wouldnt mind a Leica M9 🙂 @webrunner5 Are you selling yours?:)
webrunner5
I have had several, none now. I can't afford a lens for one anymore. I had a Leica M Monochrom one once, loved it. I guess that is close to a M9 time wise. I think it might be the best Leica ever made to be honest. PannySVHS
PannySVHS
Love the colours you achieved with your Nokia. @webrunner5 The highlight area is GH2 style though, consequent in its realizaton into super white and dynamic and fast in doing so. 🙂 webrunner5
