Lomo Konvas mount anamorphic lenses were designed in the USSR to film communist propaganda. Later, the great master Tarkovsky shot Solaris (and other masterpieces) on these very lenses. They’re slightly soft wide open and focussing mechanics are hit / miss depending on the item but for character and authenticity they cannot be beat. Lomos also have the best anamorphic lens flare of all anamorphic lenses, and the expensive Hawk modern equivalent are designed by the same Russian genius behind the Lomos.
