If like your cat or dog you also have a blog, you may be interested to know that it’s possible to have embedded Vimeo video on your Flash retarded device!
Above is a very silly video I made last year, a bit of fun shot in the early days of the none-hacked GH1 without any lens adapters and shot handheld with the kit lens. It’s supposed to be a parody of the music video for Blur’s Coffee & TV.
It will play embedded on the page on your iPad with full media controls or you can make it full screen. On the iPhone you can play it and it opens full-screen, which makes sense on what is already a very small screen anyway.
The code is using HTML5 to play the video inline, rather than Flash which I hate, hate and hate. Daily I’m forced to send Apple an error report after Safari hangs, taking any open tabs and form data with it – and that’s after years and years of Flash running on the Mac, it’s on Version 10.1 as we speak and Safari is on version 5. It’s still broken – amazing.
The following code is by Krystyn Heide – Senior designer @squarespace, all credit is due to her, not me!
I hope you find it useful, and that your dog does as well.

Where XXXXXX is the ID of your Vimeo video, or a variable that your CMS or WYSIWYG editor fills in. You may also want to change the width (I’ve set it to 580) and height of your video embed (326 in the example above).
