Today I gave my early FS5 feedback to Sony and they gave me some good news – another firmware update is in the pipeline. I am allowed to give you some of the confirmed new features, although the release timing and full details are yet to be fully decided. It is clear Sony is going to support the FS5 extremely well!

Panasonic today made the V-LOG firmware update for the GH4 official. It is a paid update $99? Absolutely. I will be buying it. It is affordable enough for enthusiasts. Pros especially must be very thankful. The last time the paid to add LOG via a firmware update it cost $3000 with the Sony F3!

Meanwhile Panasonic have been more keen than many to evolve their products, adding a 4K Photo mode to the GH4 and 24p for 4:3 shooting, a nod to anamorphic filmmakers. But it isn’t enough. No anamorphic de-squeeze for instance and now the time it has taken for V-LOG to reach us has been too long.…

Panasonic have today released V2.1 firmware for the GH4. This gives us timecode and recording start/stop triggering over HDMI to Atomos devices such as the Shogun 4K recorder. The firmware also adds a few other features, read on to find out what they are…
