[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/61304882[/vimeo] Catch the EOSHD interview with Leica’s Jesko von Oeynhausenand and hands-on with the Leica M type 240 here The new Leica M (dubbed type 240) has a CMOSIS full frame sensor, and a first for a Leica camera – video. Not since the Leicina 8mm camera (EOSHD article) has a Leica product been viable for cinema. The Leica M of course is primarily a photography tool, but it is…
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/61364609[/vimeo] Read more in the first part of this article Back in November I tested the Ikonoskop A-cam dll with Rob of Slashcam.de and Ludwig Reuter of HD Video Shop here in Berlin. We spent a few hours comparing it to the Blackmagic Cinema Camera – here’s how it turned out.
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/53821829[/vimeo] In a joint shootout with Slashcam in Berlin, EOSHD put the Blackmagic Cinema Camera into a bear pit against all rivalling cameras between $500 and $4000. It was a clear day and the results are just as stark. Download the full 2.5K shootout video. Here’s my verdict on which camera you should buy – based purely on image quality. Although the 720/120fps mode is shared by Panasonic, the GoPro team have smashed a number of barriers here in terms of 4K / 2.7K resolution and processing…
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/50210718[/vimeo] One of the highlights of Photokina 2012 was meeting up with SLR Magic, the small but nimble optics company based in Hong Kong. They brought out one of the first proper fast wide lenses for Micro Four Thirds (the 12mm F1.6) by listening to demand and acting swiftly. Now they are building high end super-fast primes which are optimised for filmmakers as well as photographers.
Above: my first go at grading the Blackmagic Cinema Camera raw output The above frame is scaled to 660 pixels wide for the blog. Click here to view the full 2400 x 1350 frame in your browser and another full frame here John Brawley and Blackmagic Design today released the first raw DNG files from the camera. Here’s my take on how the raw camera stands up.
