[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/124522541[/vimeo] Camera provided by Kinefinity and HDVideoShop. Final hardware but pre-release firmware with some modes such as “Golden 3K” for 16-stop dynamic range not yet enabled. The Kinefinity KineMAX is a serious piece of kit. It is possibly the best image I have ever shot with. The 6K Super 35mm sensor delivers an absolutely incredible raw image, internally recorded and also a CineForm Proxy for quick editing.

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/119633102[/vimeo] The KineMAX 6K cinema camera is nearing a release and I might have my hands on a prototype soon here in Berlin (I happen to be down the road from my friends at HDVideoShop who are the official European dealer). This is a significantly higher spec cinema camera on paper than anything else under the price of a Red Dragon for now. Kinefinity have just released the first 6K footage…
All will be revealed tomorrow. Until now do feel free to take your guess in the forum comments. I am using a special grading technique here for the first time which is giving beautiful results on the NX1. There will be a full blog post about this when the results are revealed. Camera settings were all on default. Picture profile turned off. Sharpening on default level for video and in Adobe Camera Raw…
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/94057334[/vimeo] Dilemma of the century. Do you take the advantages of raw or 4K? Do you take the full frame sensor or the crop? Do you take the DSLR form factor or the advantages for video of mirrorless? This is something I’ve been really trying to draw a conclusion on in recent weeks for my own sanity!
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/91493490[/vimeo] These images (download the original 4K file at Vimeo to get even a clue of the full performance of the camera) are rather lovely. I’m also very impressed with the 2K slow-mo at 96fps. It is an improvement on the KineRaw MINI from last year which only shot 96fps at 720p, though there is still some moire and aliasing at the higher frame rate.

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/90809303[/vimeo] Tip jar EOSHD just $5 if you think this article is useful [wp_eStore_buy_now:product_id:8:end] Nerd alert! I’m afraid it’s time to put the creative urges to one side and get down to the nitty gritty. Just exactly how does the GH4’s image stack up against the competition?
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/79536594[/vimeo] Aside from Blackmagic there’s only one other company endeavouring to give us affordable cinema cameras at the moment and that’s Kinefinity. The MINI is a smaller cut down version of their S35, shooting 2K uncompressed raw to SSD from a Super 35mm sensor. It has an option for 4K to an external record (Q1 2014) and it’s a powerful piece of kit, though I have some reservations about usability. Is…
