As good as Canon’s renowned 24mm F1.4L? From Samyang? Maybe the title of the lens gives us a clue… AS IF. In turns out those misguided initials aren’t such a bad omen but the lens – at $850 / ÂŁ550 has some price competition from the much cheaper Sigma 24mm F1.8.

More Nikon 1 images at Lenses.fr (French website) In an interview with Imaging-Resource, Nikon general manager of R&D said that image quality (not size) was the number one priority for the Nikon 1 series and that the camera has been in development for 4 years, a process which began even before Panasonic’s work on Micro Four Thirds. Fuji had a preproduction X10 (a baby X100) at the IFA show today. This is a superb compact which does 1080p and I think they have bettered the Canon G12.

It certainly seems so. The mid-range 16MP NEX 5N has by far the better image quality at high ISOs despite being half the price. It’s the Fuji F31fd of DSLRs!
