UPDATE: Metabones inform me they have fixed the latest adapters with an anti-reflective part. If your adapter suffers from reflections, if yours has any of the issues below, simply contact Metabones and send your adapter back for a service As if the initial non-functioning firmware with the NEX 5N and NEX 7 wasn’t bad enough, it appears Metabones will have to completely re-design the recent EOS lens to E-Mount adapter.

The NEX 7 is a beautifully designed high end mirrorless camera with probably the most advanced CMOS sensor Sony have ever produced. As a stills camera it is superb (if you don’t mind adapting glass and manually focussing – because the current E-mount lens range is somewhat limited). But does it topple the Panasonic GH2 and Canon 5D Mark II…
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/36117747[/vimeo] Thanks mainly to the unexpected success of their NEX line of consumer mirrorless cameras, Sony are probably the only company to realise the truth about mirrorless and its future direction. Namely that it is the future, especially for video.
“Don’t be afraid to cannibalise yourself” said Steve Jobs. “If you don’t do it, someone else will”. In an interview with Imaging Resource, Toshiyuki Terada of Olympus speaks candidly about Sony and Nikon.
2012 will be the best year for DSLR video since it all began to kick off in 2009 with major releases due from every big manufacturer. This is a Photokina year starting September 18th as well, where we will most likely see the Panasonic GH3. There are other key events like CES and NAB within 4 months to keep an eye on, particularly for a working Canon’s 4K DSLR prototype.
Find it on eBay Recently a Leica factory man came out and said he was ‘troubled’ by Sony’s approach to the NEX camera – that of a small body but large lenses. It’s an interesting remark and quite political because Leica are known to be developing their own competing mirrorless camera. Not a rangefinder like the M9 but consumer priced.
A huge change is happening to the camera industry. Cameras are no longer aimed at people who love cameras and this isn’t a photographic industry any more. Instead it is morphing into a consumer entertainment industry leaving many abandoned niches and gaps in its wake.
The NEX 5N is a tiny camera but it starts to really look the part when you add a chunky lens and monitor. The only problem is how do you mount a large lens to a small camera without damaging the mount, and how do you mount a monitor without a hotshoe or a rig?
