This is great news for video on the 5D Mark III. The encoder is completely new and features the ALL-I Intra frame recording mode (like AVC Intra) that the Canon 1D X supports, at half the price of that body.

A rumour surfaced today (which was given the 2nd highest rating of plausibility by Sony Alpha Rumors) that Sony have a new NEX video product to come before NAB. Sony have confirmed they are strengthening the NEX range more than intended this year on the back of very strong sales. So as well as new lenses on the roadmap will we see a new video camera?

Canon will release a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera in 2012. Japanese website DCWatch has the first interview where Canon have spoken in detail about the development of the new system. There’s so much in this interview. But the translation is very rough. So take my interpretation as just that for now – an interpretation. Note: I have also corrected some grammar in the translated quotes for easy reading.
Once again the rumours were right and the no-show of Canon’s G12 successor has been explained by the appearance of a pro-compact with much larger 1.5 inch sensor and DIGIC 5. Rather than just cut and paste the press release like so many blogs do, I’ll take a deeper look at what this all means.
The Nikon D4 will soon be unveiled and will jump the availability of the Canon 1DX by going on sale in February. The camera has a 16MP full frame sensor and completely revamped video mode with some new features not seen before on a Nikon.
The Canon C300 is the first in the company’s new Cinema EOS line-up, a high end range of digital movie production cameras. The range will later be expanded say Canon, to include 4K movie cameras, a 4K DSLR, a camera for run & gun documentary makers (presumably with an auto-mode that the C300 lacks entirely) and a lower end offering priced for indie filmmakers.
