Panasonic need to copy Canon’s approach with regard regional standards and go global. Clearly this is a decision from high up and not an engineering lead one. Very detailed information of the AF100’s full capabilities have been presented in public by Panasonic by Jan Crittenden Livingston. Panasonic’s AF100 is a brilliantly specced machine, which has lead some people to believe that such dedicated professional video cameras mean the end of DSLR filmmaking. Panasonic themselves have now said that they believe the opposite.
First impressions of the Panasonic GH2 are overwhelmingly positive. There was not another DSLR at Photokina by Canon or Nikon that can compete as an all-rounder. The GH2 is a complete package.

Panasonic have unveiled the AG-AF101 in Europe at the IBC. This is the major first step-up image quality wise from the current video DSLRs we have seen since the original benchmark set by the 5D Mark II in 2008. For the first time we have a large sensor CMOS chip combined with the image processing hardware and functionality to back it up.
Please take this as a rumour because I have no idea whether it is a prank, or whether it is the genuine item! Today I received an email containing photos, which the sender claimed were of the GH2’s new 18MP sensor. The photos were sent to me from a source claiming to be at a factory (although he would not say whether it was in China or Japan) and look…
