Comment on the forum Update:Â Rather an an SDI port, it seems the XC15 is set to feature an audio connector for a set of XLR jacks on a top grip accessory which slots into the hot-shoe similar to the C300. The larger hot-shoe has been redesigned with a screw-thread, again another hint the update is all about accommodating a handle with XLRs. With a camera so ripe for a change,…

The first reliable rumours are coming in about the GH5. According to 43Rumors it will not be ready for Photokina, instead we might be looking at an early 2017 release date. They also appear to be confident about two other aspects – no extra crop of the sensor when shooting 4K and the codec has been bumped up to 10bit 4:2:2 internally!
The leaked specs of the Canon 5D Mark IV are now all over the internet but the video mode warrants further investigation…
Today the Swedes introduced a medium format mirrorless camera, proving that a 44 x 33 sensor can in fact be compact, in terms of both the body and lenses. However the camera goes without the 4K RAW mode of the recently introduced H6-50C system with similar Sony 50MP CMOS and the H6-100C (100MP sensor). (Unhappy face).

Disclaimer: the full specs aren’t out yet and nothing is officially announced New 1D X Mark II specs (via Canon Rumors) have just come out which reveal it to shoot DCI 4K in MJPEG format (4096 x 2610 and likely 8bit) just like the 1D C. However the maximum frame rate for 4K is now 60p! However at first glance there appears to be a glaring omission – that of Canon LOG.
Granted this is more a stills related camera than video but the Sony RX line is a favourite of mine – it has always packed absolute cutting edge technology and innovation into tiny cameras. And who doesn’t like tiny cameras? (My review of the RX100 IV is coming tomorrow, by the way). The original RX1 in 2013 was almost like a full frame Leica when it came to street photos but jacket…
Some interesting new developments from Apple on the new iPhone 6S camera. The phone now shoots 4K video with a new 12MP sensor. A new feature, Live Photos stores multiple 12MP frames with a new compression technology to give movement to still photos.
